TikTok Stories and How to Use Them

Have you ever recorded or captured a funny moment and want to share it with your followers but don’t want to make the effort of creating an Instagram post? Well TikTok stories might become your new best friend for sharing the small but hilarious stuff with your audience. Utilizing stories can be a casual way to interact with your audience, but it can also provide more engagement on timely content. By using stories, you will further develop relationships with your followers by giving them a chance to interact with your stories and keep your feed clean.

TikTok Stories are still new to users, but work and function just the same as other social media applications. Just like Instagram or Snapchat, they will disappear after 24 hours. But with this specific platform, stories operate a little differently and we’re going to explain everything you need to know about this new addition to TikTok.

So what is TikTok Stories and how are they different from other platforms?

As said above, TikTok Stories are very similar to Instagram or Snapchat Stories, but one of the main differences is that they are incorporated into users’ For You Page (FYP) instead of at the top of the social media page. Since stories are mixed into a user's FYP, they can comment and like it publicly, which is different from the other platforms. Being able to see users' reactions to your stories will help interact with your audience more.

How to post TikTok Stories:

Since TikTok stories will mostly be shown in your FYP, you can still head over to the account's profile and click on their profile picture to view their stories. In order to create your own TikTok story, just follow these two steps:

Step 1: You record a TikTok story just like you would with a normal post. Tap the ‘+’ icon, record, then add your effects, sounds, or music, and text!

Step 2: Once you’re ready to post your story, click the ‘checkmark icon,’ then click ‘Post to Story’ and you’re all set to go! Simple as that!

If you’re looking to expand your brand, TikTok stories may become your new way of getting content out to your followers. This new addition will soon become available to everyone, so make sure to be on the lookout for the update and then start creating your content!
